Colruyt Lowest Prices store in Halle has unveiled an innovative easy check-out system utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically scan products as workers transfer them from one shopping cart to another. Developed by Colruyt Group’s innovation team, Smart Technics, the system aims to boost efficiency by up to one fifth and offers a more ergonomic experience for workers who can now use both hands. The AI-powered camera recognizes up to 85% of products, distinguishing and choosing the correct bar code even on multi-packs. The system is currently being tested with real customers, and a wider rollout is anticipated based on its success.
