British retailer Clarks embarked on a major digital transformation project based on the MACH principles (microservices, API-first, cloud-native, headless). The aim was to replace the legacy POS systems in over 500 stores across Europe and the US with a modern, flexible and scalable solution to improve both operational efficiency and the customer experience. The Unified Commerce Platform breaks down key processes such as returns, exchanges and inventory management into smaller, agile components that use modern cloud frameworks to improve performance. This transformation will enable Clarks to respond quickly to new business opportunities, such as expanding into digital channels such as the TikTok video platform.
